Following last seasons succesful debut at the World Net supporters tournament the KHIST side returned but this time with two teams in the 64 team tournament. A 35 man party left for Leeds on Friday for a weekend of football and alcohol.
The weekend kicked off with the England Scotland friendly and Harriers had the honour of two players being selected. Dave Greaves and Ollie Sewell both had good games and were cheered on by a vocal Harriers following with the score ending 2-2.
On returning to the bar the boys enjoyed a sing off with Portsmouth before a game of footy in the mess room.
Saturday
The stronger 'A' side kicked off the tournament with a game against Scottish champions Ayr United at 9am. Despite controlling the game Kiddy just couldn't get the all important goal and some poor finishing resulted in a 0-0 draw to start.
The 'B' side started with a game against Manchester United supporters with a few players carrying injuries. Ede Matthews suffered an injury climbing naked into a wardrobe cupboard, Andrew 'Ebbers' Coffield injured his knee sleeping and Smudge was trod on by Soupy! After a bright start Harriers conceded a soft goal before going down to a 2-0 defeat.
The 'A' team secured the first win of the day with a 2-0 win against Tranmere with Richard Ward and Tom Sharland scoring the goals. However next up the 'B' team suffered another defeat, this time 5-0 to Exeter with Lee Williamson the pick of the Harriers players.
In the final group game the 'A' side needed a win to top the group and edged a tight game against Gillingham with Dave Pountney chipping the keeper from the edge of the area. Playing a different formation in the last game the 'B' side continued to struggle and suffered another defeat this time 6-0 to Southampton although at least managed a few efforts on goal.
After the lads had a friendly with Welling United and reflected on a mixed day with the 'A' team finishing top of their group and the 'B' team bottom.

Sunday
Due to the 'B' teams poor performance they were drawn to play Peterborough United in the Plate competition at 9am. Manager Pountney had reservations that whether he would be able to get the players out of bed for another tough match. However despite some not getting in at 5am only one player failed to make kick off.
The Harriers started well and actually caused the Posh some problems but soon found themselves behind. Trailing 2-0 the unthinkable happened the Harriers scored! Simon Jarrasinsku broke clear before rifling the ball into the top right hand corner to cue mass celebrations! With Dave Ackerley producing heroics in goal James Wasko again broke the offside trap to slot the ball past the keeper to send the game into extra time. However the 'B' team exited the competiton after a very dubious penalty was given and Peterborough scored the golden goal from the spot.
The 'A' team were drawn in the main Cup competition against St Johnstone and despite one or two 'delicate' players the team put in a good performance to run out 3-0 winners with goals from Marc Vaughan, Dave Greaves and Andrew Baker to reach the last 16.
Next up were Arsenal Nigeria whom as the name suggests had travelled from Africa to take on Worcestershire's finest. It was a tough games against athletic opponents but it was Harriers who dominated but were unable to find the elusive goal. With no score after extra time the game had to be decided by penalties. Lewis Pountney and Richard Ward both scored but Ollie Sewell and Andrew Baker (who's ball is still to come down) missed. Arsenal missed 3 of their first 4 penalties meaning it was left to Dave Pountney to send the keeper the wrong way and send the Harriers through.
In the quarter finals of the cup Harriers took on West Bromwich Albion. Unfortunately though Harriers had to kick off only 5 minutes after the penalty victory against Arsenal and it had its affect.
With a squad of only 14 and a few players suffering with injury/tiredness Kiddy never really tested the Albion. Rob Holmes kept Harriers in it with another penalty save to keep the scores level at the break. Two quick goals though, the first conceded in the tournament, condemned Harriers to defeat to West Brom who went on to win the tournament.
It was another great weekend away and full credit to the 'A' team for reaching the last 8 out of 64 teams. Although the 'B' team struggled in the group stage they saved their best performance for the Peterborough game.
