HARRIERS FANS TEAM 5 WEYMOUTH SUPPORTERS 1
Saturday 17th January 2009 (h) Cookley playing fields

With Dave Pountney at work and Dave ‘Dreadlock’ Williams on a freebie holiday, managerial responsibilities were passed over to caretaker manager Mark Young and Director of Football Mike ‘Soupy’ Peplow.

A familiar starting line-up was named with debutants Nathan Fox, Andrew Gray and Mark Minard left waiting for their first taste of fans team action.  Harriers started well looking solid at the back with Weymouth rarely troubling the defence and it wasn’t long until the deadlock was broken.  With 20 minutes Mark Young played Tom Sharland through on goal who finished with a sublime chip into the top left hand corner.

Harriers continued to press and Dave Greaves was rewarded for his hard work up front when he slid the ball past the advancing Weymouth goalkeeper on 30 minutes.  The management duo rang the changes after the goal went in and it appeared to be a managerial masterstroke!  Greaves went onto to score two more goals in the first half to complete his hat trick.

Weymouth started the second half brightly but the harriers defence remained solid.  Was the first clean sheet of the season on the cards?  It was until defensive duo Sewell and Millington were removed from the back line.  30 seconds after their departure, Harriers had problems clearing their lines and Weymouth scored with a fine finish from the edge of the area.

Heads did not drop and Kiddy continued to press and soon struck back in impressive style.  Sean Merryweather scored with a left footed curling shot from the edge of the area.  The game petered out from this point on and the final score was Kidderminster 5 - 1 Weymouth.

Overall a very professional performance of which both Pountney and Williams would have been proud of.  Hats must also go off to Weymouth who set out at 6am to make the match, they played the game in good spirit and we shall look forward to playing them in the future.
