AFC TELFORD 3 HARRIERS FANS TEAM 2
Bank Holiday Monday 30th August 2010

The Kidderminster Harriers supporters’ team succumbed to a second consecutive defeat to a Shropshire side, this time in the form of AFC Telford United. Three is a magic number, and Harriers have now conceded three goals in every game played this season. Goals from Sean Merryweather and Dave Pountney were not enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat away from home.

Although they had the better of the opening exchanges, Kiddy conceded first. Given far too much time and space, Telford's tall striker teed himself up a volley which flew straight into the top corner. Harriers were quick to bounce back though - Scott Mason found space on the right to cross for Merryweather, who hit a half-volley in off the post. Dave Greaves had a chance to put Kiddy in front, but was cruelly denied by the post.

Before half time, following a host of substitutions by Harriers, the home side regained the lead from a free kick. Despite making sure his wall was perfectly positioned, Dave Ackerley forgot to position himself properly and the free kick rolled along the ground straight into the bottom corner.
As Kiddy looked to make it 2-2, they were caught on the break and despite the best efforts of Ian Danby and Steve Perry, the Telford striker was able to double United's lead with a composed finish past ‘keeper Ackerley.

After good work from the tireless Dave Pountney, Simon Jarosinski squared the ball to Pete Lewis, whose close range effort was again heroically cleared off the line. Moments later Jarosinski was again involved, but this time Harriers scored. The Pole's corner curled in low and as Pountney stretched for the ball the keeper could only manage to deflect the ball into his own net.

Pushing for the equaliser, Kiddy won a throw-in deep into Telford territory. Nathan Fox's dangerous long throw was headed out for Dave Greaves whose blistering shot was tipped onto the bar by the goalkeeper.

A disappointing result in a game which could so easily have gone the other way, but Harriers now have a week off before the home game against Cambridge on September 18th
