Kidderminster Harriers Supporters Team

The Kidderminster Harriers Supporters team returned to form at the weekend with a 3-3 draw at home to AFC Telford supporters. Goals from Matthews, Merryweather and Wenham ensured a point for the home side after falling behind three times.

The pre-game preparations were dealt a major blow when Mike ‘Roberto Carlos’ Peplow fell foul to a groin strain in the warm up, leaving the team with no natural left back, but the 17 man squad pulled together to secure a deserved draw.

The visitors struck the first blow on 20 minutes when goalkeeper Dave Ackerley could only palm away a speculative strike, and with the ball not properly cleared the Telford striker was on hand with a routine finish. The KHIST heads didn’t drop though and shortly after they had the ball in the Telford net via a John Wenham close range header only for the Linesman to flag for a debatable off-side decision. Kiddy continued to push the visitors back and got their reward when Adam Mathews was on hand to head home from just yards out after some good build up play from front-men Greaves and Pountney.

The score remained 1-1 going into the second half where the game became slightly scrappy as both sides struggled to maintain possession for long periods. Telford again went a goal ahead just before the hour mark, but this lead was to be even shorter lived as Midfielder Merrywether struck from the edge of the area to bring the scores level just moments after.

With the game evenly poised you felt the next goal could be the winner and sure enough Telford edged in front, this time after a mix-up at the back making the score 2-3. With the clock ticking it looked as though the 3 points were heading back to Shropshire but true to form the Harriers dug deep and found a deserved equaliser when John Wenham found space from 20 yards out to lash home a half volley into the top corner leaving the keeper stranded.
