TAMWORTH SUPPORTERS 1 HARRIERS FANS TEAM 4
Monday 31st August 2009 (a)

The fans team gained their first victory of the season on Bank Holiday Monday at Tamworth. Travelling in style a party of 45 players and supporters arrived via double decker coach to take on Tamworth for only the second time.

Manager Dave Pountney had the envious task of keeping a mammoth squad of 21 players happy and chose to play a different side each half.

1st Half Team -
Dave Ackerley, Mark Connolly, Dave Greaves, Ben Grazier, David Williams, Ash Jarvis, Dereck McAnenay, Kieran McAnenay, Mike Cooper, Pete Lewis and Dave Pountney.

A more experianced side started the first half and found the long grass not to their liking as they struggled to complete passes. Both teams had chances as the half wore on with Dave Pountney, Dave Greaves and Ash Jarvis all going close to breaking the deadlock. At the other end Dave Ackerley made a good gave as he searched for a very rare clean sheet.

Just before half time though Harriers took the lead as Dave Pountney held the ball up before releasing Dave Greaves who broke the offside trap before cooly finishing for his first of the season.

2nd Half Team
- Dave Ackerley, Rob Hart, Richard Millington, Ian Danby, Jono Smith, Adam Smith, Sean Merryweather, Alex Owen, Tom Hudson, Nathan Fox and Liam Illiffe.

With ten changes at half time Harriers made a terrible start and conceded in the first minute. The lively Tamworth forward broke clear before cutting inside to level the scores. The young Harriers side kept their heads though with the influential Sean Merryweather and Adam Smith controlling the midfield.

As our hosts began to tire Kiddy continued to find more and more space and it was no suprise when Harriers took the lead. It was Adam Smith who got the goal as his cross looped in over the static Tamworth goalie. The fresh Kiddy side with three 'planet mostyn' players were now playing some lovely football and Nathan Fox popped up on the edge of the box to score with a fine volley to extend the lead.

In the final minutes the Man of the match Sean Merryweather gave the scoreline a flattering look as from outside the area he collected the ball before firing it into the top corner.

It was an enjoyable game against a good bunch of lads and just what fans football is all about. It was then back to the pub for a bite to eat and drink with our hosts.
The future looks bright for the team as younsters Sean Merryweather, Nathan Fox and Alex Owen all having good second halves.
