STOCKPORT COUNTY 6 HARRIERS FANS TEAM 0
Saturday 3rd April 2010 |
The Kidderminster Harriers Supporters Team suffered a heavy defeat en route to the weekends visit to Altrincham. An under strength, 13 man (and boy) squad arrived at Manchester City’s Academy Complex for the first ever encounter with their Stockport counterparts.
The game got off to the worst possible start as the hosts took the lead within 30 seconds and it didn’t get any better when individual errors led to a half time deficit of 3-0. Stockport County’s Fans Team have won all of their home games this season and it was obvious why as the huge pitch and the state of the art 3G surface meant that the experienced Lancashire side passed the youthful looking visitors off the park.
Unfortunately the Harriers rarely threatened the Stockport goal, and as Manchester City’s and Sheffield United Youth’s teams battled it out in front of Television Cameras on the next pitch, Stockport added another 3 in the second half to round off a comfortable 6-0 home win.
It was an enjoyable experience to play on such fine facilities, but needless to say the result was one to forget. The game was played in typical friendly manner and hopefully the two teams will do battle again in the future, albeit on the familiar surroundings of a more modest, robust Cookley playing Fields.
