HARRIERS FANS TEAM 3 STAFFORD RANGERS 5
Saturday 27th February 2010 |
The Harriers Fans team suffered their third successive home defeat at the hands of a strong Stafford Supporters team on Saturday. Goals from Sean Merryweather, Pete Lewis and Simon Clarke were not enough to avoid defeat at the hands of their Staffordshire counterparts.
With a total of 23 players Manager Mark Connolly decided upon playing a different side each half and it was Sean Merryweather who put the hosts one goal up with a deflected free-kick after a foul on Morgan Nock. However some lacklustre defending saw Stafford go in to the break 2-1 up as the visitors played some good football.
A completly new side took the field at the start of the second half and it started so well for the Harriers when Pete Lewis and then man of the match Simon Clarke both notched goals to turn the game on its head. The lead was not to last long though as the visitors stepped up a gear and again took advantage of some poor defending to make the scoreline 3-5 with 20 minutes still to go. Harriers, with the luxury of 11 half time substitutes pressed their opponents until the end but never really looked like rescuing the game.
Stafford were a well organised, strong side but the Harriers were unfortunately below par once again and the management team were left scratching their heads as to why the familiar home surroundings failed to lift the ever increasing squad.
