HARRIERS FANS TEAM 0 SHREWSBURY TOWN SUPPORTERS 3
Saturday 1st November 2008 (h) @ Cookley playing fields

The Kidderminster Harriers Supporters Team (KHIST) were dealt a rare defeat this weekend, as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Shrewsbury Town’s Supporters.

Caretaker manager Adam ‘Mourinho’ Matthews had a large squad to choose from in what was only Harriers’ second home game of the season, but despite the extra quality in the ranks, the visitors shot into an 2-0 lead inside eight minutes to which the home side never managed to recover.

Wayne ‘Delap’ Allen was once again firing his long throws into the danger areas but Shrewsbury were equal to this potent aerial threat. Chances were few and far between for the hosts in the first period, but after a number of half-time changes, Dave Greaves, Pete Lewis and debutant Chris Bannister all went close to getting Harriers back into the game.

Dave Williams was substituted midway through the second half, but strangely decided to watch the rest of the game with his shorts pulled up over his chest. Is old age really setting in that quickly for Freebie?
The killer third goal came halfway through the second period and the impressive Shropshire side held out to keep a clean sheet before heading back to watch their first team take on Luton Town.

Caretaker boss Matthews, who admitted he feared for his job after a poor performance from Harriers, was in a reflective mood at a post-match press conference, “Shrewsbury were an excellent side, probably the best we’ve seen this season, but we never got out the starting blocks. I will be happy to hand the reins back over to Mr Pountney next week!”.

The KHIST side will be hoping to get their season back on track when they entertain Cambridge United at Cookley on Saturday morning before the FA Cup First Round clash in the afternoon.
