HARRIERS FANS TEAM 2 PRESTON NORTH END 'B' 3
Saturday 17th April 2010 |
The Kidderminster Harriers fans tem crashed to a 3-2 home defeat at the hands of Preston ‘B’ Supporters team. Saturday mornings game was the first of 3 meetings between the two sides in short succession with Preston coming to Aggborough for the Fans team finale on the 1st May, while the Harriers fans travel to Deepdale 7 days later. Despite missing a few key players the KHIST side still managed a squad of 16 on a hot morning at Cookley playing fields.
The opening 20 minutes was a cagey affair with both sides failing to trouble either keeper on a hard pitch. It was Preston who got the game’s first goal after a defensive mix saw the Preston forward finish with ease. Dave Pountney got the scores level after a good run and a clever finish. The half time scoreline of 1-1 was a tad harsh on the home side, who had offered a very good first half display.
However the second half performance didn’t quite match up and although Man of the Match Sean Merryweather put the hosts 2-1 ahead after more good work from Pountney, Preston bounced back with 2 more goals to take the lead once again after more poor defending. Unfortunately for the Harriers, the scoring ended there as the Harriers ran out of steam.
So it was another home defeat but a better performance against a decent Preston team. As always it was another tight game against a great bunch of lads who share a similar outlook on what fans football should be about, a competitive game of football played in the right spirit.
