HARRIERS FANS TEAM 6 OXFORD UTD 0
Saturday 14th November 2009 |
The Kidderminster Fans team collected their first clean sheet of the season on their way to a convincing 6-0 win over their Oxford counterparts.
The 2000 travelling fans could only drum up 9 players for the morning game so to make up the numbers the hosts kindly loaned the visitors 2 players in the shape of Goalkeeper Dave Ackerley and Striker Jai Stampe.
The game was a scrappy affair with neither side keeping possession for large periods of the game or threatening to open the deadlock, in fact the first goal of the game was virtue more to the weather conditions than attacking prowess when an Oxford defender sliced his clearance while defending a corner only to see it loop into his own net courtesy of the swirling Worcestershire wind. The home side didn’t have it all their own way though as Jai Stamp kept the defence on their toes with some clever runs and at the other end Dave Ackerley kept the score at 1-0 with a couple of decent saves and 1-0 was how the half finished.
The second half was a more open affair and Kidderminster started to pull away when Mark Connolly found himself unmarked on a corner to head home his sides second just before the hour mark. Then, with the luxury of several substitutions, Kiddy started to dominate proceedings and quickly added 3 more goals as Nathan Fox beat the off side trap to coolly slot home and Dave Pountney helped himself to a brace with 2 good finishes.
It was however the 6th goal that will be talked about for some time yet with a build up of pure quality. Some good work down the left by John Wenham saw his cross pick out Nathan Fox who then squared back across goal to Dave Pountney, he then cleverly teed up the on rushing Richard Millington who blasted in his first goal since 2002 into the top corner of the Oxford net. Oxford came very close to a consolation in the dying seconds but Brett Caulfield in the Harriers goal dived bravely at the strikers feet keep the clean sheet.
