LEWES SUPPORTERS 0 HARRIERS FANS TEAM 4
Saturday 14th March (a) 2009

The fans team made the long trek south to take on a Lewes supporters team on Saturday. The game marked a proud landmark for the team as Lewes became the 50th different supporters side played since 2001. Despite the distance though a squad of 18 players braved the 7.30am departure for Sussex.

Harriers started the game sluggishly after the long journey and found it hard against a lively home side.
It was Lewes who had the better of the first half hour as they had a goal ruled out for offside and a couple more shots off target. At this point Manager Pountney started to make the first of many changes including bringing on Veteran Dave Williams and youngster Ash Jarvis. Harriers started to find their passes with Ash Jarvis giving much needed width and Williams barking out the orders.

Kiddy scored the important first goal as after a fine passing move Tom Sharland found Dave Greaves in the box who made no mistake for his 25th of the season. Then Harriers doubled their lead just before half time with a fortunate goal as Dave Williams intended cross ended up in the back of the net and he convinced only himself that he meant it!

At half time changes were made once again to the team but it was the Harriers who were starting to play  the better football. Ben Grazier scored the vital third goal to end the game as a contest as he delightfully curled the ball into the corner of the net from the edge of the area.

Rob Holmes replaced Dave Ackerley in goal and the team were grateful to Rob as he made a couple of good saves to retain hopes of another rare clean sheet. Prolific scorer Andrew 'Ebbers' Coffield was pushed up front in search of the fourth goal but it was the impressive Jai Stampe who grabbed the final goal as he finished well from 10 yards with only a couple of minutes to go.

The game ended 4-0 for the second week running as the Harriers ran out worthy winners. All 18 players played their part with Ash Jarvis the man of the match as he gave the Harriers much needed width following his introduction.

The fans team will have a break from action next week before the planned York weekend where the squad strength will be tested with two games in two days.
