EASTBOURNE SUPPORTERS 2 HARRIERS FANS TEAM 17
Saturday 27th September 2008 (a)

The Harriers fans team were on top form at the weekend with a comprehensive victory on the south coast against a newly formed Eastbourne Borough supporters team.

The fans team departed Kidderminster at 6.30am for the long trip to Sussex in the hope of seeing two victories. The match was played right next to the Eastbourne Borough ground and their fans proved to be excellent hosts throughout the day.

The KHIST side raced into a two goal lead through John Wenham and David Greaves but Eastbourne soon found themselves level after 20 minutes following some good football. The Eastbourne equaliser seemed to spark some life into the Harriers who then proceeded to play some excellent football with David Greaves and Tom Sharland tormenting the Boro defence. With every attack the Harriers looked dangerous finding the net another six times to lead 8-2 at half time, with Ben Grazier scoring the pick of the goals by lobbing the Eastbourne goalkeeper from 30 yards.

The second half followed much the same pattern as the first with Eastbourne rarely leaving their own half.  David Greaves continued to cause problems for the Boro defence and it was last seasons topscorer who was brought down in the box to enable goalkeeper David Ackerley to score his first ever goal for the fans team. Sean Merryweather also contributed with a hatrick to give the scoreline a very one sided look at full time.

It was a good performance by Harriers with a man of the match performance by David Greaves who aswell as scoring 7 goals caused major problems to the Eastbourne defence all morning. A great deal of credit must go to Eastbourne who in only their second ever game never gave up and contributed to a game played in great spirit. The KHIST side who have been playing for 8 years showed their experiance and well done to the 13 players for travelling to the south coast for the second week running and making the 400 mile round trip. It was a great day out and we were made to feel welcome from start to the finish by friendly people at a well run club. We look forward to welcoming Eastbourne to Kidderminster later in the season.
