CAMBRIDGE UNITED 1 HARRIERS FANS TEAM 1
Saturday 31st October 2009

The Kidderminster Harriers fans team made the journey down to Cambridge on halloween under a new management duo.

With the impending birth of baby Pountney both Dave and Becky decided against any pitch side dramas and stayed in kidderminster. With assistant management Mark 'mav' Connolly taking an ill timed mid-season holiday the managerial reigns were handed to Ollie Sewell and Richard Millington

Despite a depleated squad missing several fans team regulars, the boys went into the game in good form with back to back wins over West brom and AFC Telford

Adapting the mike bassett 'i write my teams on the back of a fag packet' approach, the team started the game with a 4-5-1 formation. It took the Harriers a while to get into a scrappy game, with the first chance falling to holding midfielders Ollie Sewell who should have done better after finding some room but could only guide a free header over the bar. An even better chance for the boys in blue came on the half hour mark after good work on the left wing from Richard 'Milky' Millington saw his through ball latched onto by loan striker Ash Jarvis who saw his snap shot turned around the post by the cambridge keeper with touchside cameras just managing to capture the gymnastics.

On the stroke of half time the deadlock was broken by the away side. Centre half Chris Lacey found himself in an alarmingly advanced role, but saw him pin point cross guided into the net at the nearpost by the impressive Jarvis. The lads from worcstershire held onto the lead upto the half time break and went in pleased with the first period.

The second half quickly turned into a scrappy affiar, not helped by some bizarre (to put it politely) refereeing decisions, and the constant whinging and late tackles of the Alopecia sufferer and the 'larger than Iyeseden' Christie look a like in the Cambridge central midfield. The game boiled over on the hour, baby Iyseden didn't like the attentions of Sewell from a goal kick and took out his bizarre frustration by volleying the kiddy midfielder in the back of the legs. Unsuprisingly, the ref 'didnt see it' much to the annoyance of the stand in manager.

Moments later the U's grabbed a deserved equaliser, with a smart move down the Kidderminster right, with the ball ending at the strikers feet who saw his shot slide past Brett Caulfield's hand and in off the far post. The game finished on a sour note however. Mark Young slid in and cleanly won the ball off baby Iyseden, but the midfielder, clearly still upset from the lost toys he discarded from the pram earlier in the half, took offence to being tackled and piled into Young, much to the dis-pleasure of the Blues midfielder. The refs patience had been worn to breaking point and decided to send off both players.

The game petered out with both teams seemingly happy with the 1-1 draw. Man of the Match to Ash Jarvis for tireless running upfront on his own and a well taken goal.
