HARRIERS FANS TEAM 2 FOREVER BURY 'A' 1
Saturday 25th September 2010

The KHIST fans team followed up last week’s 9-0 thumping of Cambridge United with an even more impressive home win against Bury 'A' Supporters on Saturday. The 2-1 score line was more modest, but the performance against a strong Bury side was certainly more accomplished.

A 17 man squad assembled at Cookley ahead of the game which included debutants Craig Martin, John Taylor and Matt White. The game got under way at the earlier time of 10am to give Bury time to continue their journey south to Cheltenham whilst the Harriers did not play AFC Wimbledon till Sunday.

I
t was an edgy encounter in the early stages with both sides looking to take control. The hosts landed the first blow when midfielder Adam Smith found space in the area to pick his spot to give the home side the lead. More chances followed but it took to the half hour mark for the Harriers to pull away when Lewis Pountney supplied an inch perfect cross to the make-shift centre forward Merryweather to fire his header past the sprawling keeper. The game could have been put to bed before the break with more chances going begging, Mark Young coming closest with a glancing header going inches wide.

The second half was never going to be as fluent as the rolling substitutions were made, and the away side finally got a hold on the game. An excellent goal-line clearance from Pete Lewis, and some last ditch defending kept Bury at bay but it never looked like Kiddy would let the lead slip. The visitors did however pull one back with 10 left to setup a slightly nervy finish, but the final whistle blew to end the match signalling back to back home wins for the Harriers Fans.

The KHIST side will look to continue their recent good form against Woking supporters en route to Harriers league clash at Crawley Town next weekend.
