HARRIERS FANS TEAM 4 STEVENAGE BOROUGH 7
Saturday 13th March 2010 |
The Harriers Fans team dire home form continued as they went down 7-4 to their Stevenage counterparts. Despite scoring 4 goals, hitting the woodwork 3 times and creating a hatful of chances, individual errors cost dearly.
The game was an even affair until the 35th minute when 5 goals in ten minutes meant that the away side went in to half time 3-2 up. Stevenage drew first blood but the Harriers bounced back after some good work by Dave Greaves led to a close range finish by Joe Loveridge. Immediately after the restart, the home side conceded a sloppy goal, only for Chris Lacey to fire home and level the score with half time just moments away. However further poor defending saw Andy Powells header find the back of his own net and as the whistle blew the half ended 3-2 to Stevenage.
The half time break and some harsh words at half time did seem to rally the troops but the visitors continued to be ruthless in front of goal as they soon extended their lead to 4-2 via a spot kick after Richard Millington brought down the goal bound centre forward. The 5th goal soon followed after a looping header from 6 yards somehow beat Dave Ackerley in goal. The home side though continued to create chances and after hitting the post and forcing some good saves from the keeper, eventually pulled 2 goals back via a Dave Greaves long range effort and another Joe Loveridge strike. A comeback however was not on the cards as the Stevenage winger put the game to bed with a good finish to complete the scoring.
There were some excellent individual performances, especially from Chris Lacey and Nathan Fox, however once again for reasons unknown to the players and management alike the home comforts of Cookley Playing fields continue to favour the travelling sides.
