HARRIERS FANS TEAM AT AGGBOROUGH STADIUM
Saturday 7th May 2011

The annual Fans team day at Aggborough continues to grow from strength to strength after this years event raised a record £1700. Harriers legends Paul Davies, Kim Casey, Mick Tuohy, Jon Purdie, Delwyn Humphreys and John Deakin all turned out among some of the present day backroom staff (and club Director Wayne Allen!) to play alongside 55 lucky fans in 4 games against rival supporter teams.

HARRIERS FANS TEAM 3 STAFFORD RANGERS 0

With West Bromwhich Albion's Supporters team kindly supplying four fully qualified match officials, the first game kicked off at 10am where the starting line-up included first team Physio Gavin Crowe and Andy Fearn from the coaching staff.

After a tight opening 60 minutes the Harriers ran out 3-0 winners with Dave Greaves scoring twice before being substituted for club doctor Phillip Earl. The rain didnt dampen spirits with Greaves tormenting the Rangers defence all morning.

Team
- Nick Haycox, Dave Williams, Mark Connolly, Richard Millington, Mike Cooper, Asd Dye, Adam Dye, Tom Hudson, Scott Mason, Sam Flory, Dave Greaves, Alex Withers, Gavin Crowe, Andy Fearn and Phillip Earl.

Scorers - Dave Greaves 2 and Fearn Junior.

HARRIERS FANS TEAM 2 PRESTON NORTH END 'B' 4

The second game was a much more daunting task against an excellent Preston North End. After a slight delay due to a problem on the motorway the second game kicked off at a slightly later than scheduled time of 1pm.

On paper this was always going to be a tough task and not even class of Midfielder John Deakin could prevent the visitors sailing to a 2 goal lead. The Harriers did manage to grab 2 goals through Mark Vaughan and Lawrence Freyne however two more from Preston meant the game ended 4-2 to Preston.

Team - George Preston, Richard Hall, Mark Young, Nathan Fox, Mike Peplow, Dereck Mcanenay, Sean Merryweather, John Wenham, Simon Jarrasinski, Adam Matthews, Ryan Cooper, Marc Vaughan, Steve Perry, Lee Bennett, Lawrence Freyne and John Deakin.

Scorers - Marc Vaughan and Lawrence Freyne

HARRIERS FANS TEAM 1 AFC WIMBLEDON 3

Next up was an AFC Wimbledon side who had recently held the Harriers to a 3-3 draw back in March. Delwyn Humphries and Jon Purdie led the attack, however they we starved of the kind of supply they were used to the last time they played at Aggborough stadium and even though the Harriers bossed large parts of the game they somehow lost the game 3-1, with a neat finish from Purdie being one of the highlights of an entertaining game.

Team - Dave Ackerley, Andy Morgan, Ollie Sewell, Andy Powell, Jon Smith, Mitch Pearce, Lewis Pountney, Chris Smith, Neil Bennett, Craig Martin, Jon Taylor, James Wasko, Tom Duffield, Marc Stones, Jon Purdie and Delwyn Humphreys.

Scorer - Jon Purdie

HARRIERS FANS TEAM 0 REDDITCH UNITED 0

With the attendance growing in the main stand you got a feeling of something special was about to happen, and they were not disappointed! As the 4th and final game kicked off against Redditch Utd Supporters, true Aggborough legends Paul 'Ocker' Davies, Kim Casey and Mick Touhey headed up a formiddable looking front line.

Sadly, despite the very special guests showing that there was no substitute for experience there was not to be a fairy tale goal from either of the 3 and the game ended 0-0 and despite the goal drought all 3 left the pitch to a standing ovation from the appreciative spectators.

Team - Brett Caufield, Adam Smith, Dave Goode, Ian Danby, Wayne Allen, Dave Connolly, Steve Bird, Ben Grazier, Ash Jarvis, Morgan Nock, Steve Parker, Andrew Coffield, Pete Lewis, Dave Pountney, Ocker Davies, Kim Casey and Mick Tuohy.

So a thoroughly enjoyable day had by all and special thanks go out to the Legends who gave up their time and particularly the volunteers and organisers who made it all happen and to acheive the ultimate goal - to raise valuable funds for the clubs and to reward those who have stuck by the club through a difficult season.
