HARRIERS FANS TEAM 1 AFC WIMBLEDON 2
Saturday 28th November 2009

Kidderminster’s fine run of results ended with defeat at the hands of AFC Wimbledon on Saturday. The fans team went down 2-1 thanks to 2 goals inside the last 20 minutes after the home side led through a Lewis Poutney strike early in the second half.

Having started 30 mins late due to Wimbledon being delayed on the Motorway it was the Harrier’s that looked the more lacklustre. Both teams found it hard to get any kind of rhythm going and it was scrappy first half with neither goalkeeper being troubled. The second half started slightly brighter for Kiddy and they soon went 1 nil up after some clever play between the Poutney brothers which saw Lewis toe-poke past the keeper from 12 yards.

Looking to build on last weeks win at Kettering, the home fans expected their team to go on and win at a canter but even with a goal advantage they still couldn’t get a grip on the game and never really looked like going on and adding a second. The closest they did come to adding another goal was a penalty claim on the hour mark when Ben Grazier went down after an Arial challenge but the strong referee refuted any claims from the sprawling midfielder.

With the contest starting to fizzle out the away side stepped up a gear and the home defence crumbled when the Wombles levelled with 20 mins left, again the home side were appealing to the ref as there may have been a hint of hand-ball in the build up but again the referee was perfectly placed to wave play on and the Londoners levelled with a close range effort. It was to get worse for Kidderminster when minutes later the Wimbledon centre forward waltzed his way through the flailing home defence, rounded the goal keeper and tapped home from 6 yards. The under-performing Harriers had no answer and the Wimbledon fans completed the double over their Worcestershire opponents.
